HOW DO YOU FIT INTO THE WEDDING SCENE? WHAT DO YOU DO?

I tell love stories!! My official title is ‘Civil Marriage Celebrant’, which means I guide couples through one of the most exciting, nerve-racking, emotion filled moments of their lives and I reckon, that’s pretty cool.

WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU? WHY ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS IN YOUR FIELD?

Apart from my general fabulousness? The feedback I get from my couples and other creatives in the industry is that I am relaxed, easy going and personable. There really aren’t many people I don’t get along with and this helps to me create a good rapport with my couples through the planning journey and engage guests on the day. I have always been good at talking (haha) and creative writing, which are integral elements of the role. I have a bachelor of business and an extensive background in Event Management, so the behind the scenes stuff for my couples is taken care of with utmost care and professionalism. I love hearing and telling stories, a wedding ceremony is never about me, always about my couple.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF VIBE?

I am an avid giggler, please don’t book me if you want a boring or solemn wedding. My favourite ceremonies are relaxed and funny, I use a modern approach with real stories about the couple to tell their love story and engage their crowd. I can be a bit of a goofball and I think that creates an authentic vibe to my ceremonies and helps relax the couple to fully take in and enjoy the moment.

HIT US WITH YOUR BEST WEDDING TIPS!

To surround yourself with quality vendors so you can enjoy the journey as much as the day itself. I always think of that adage, ‘if you think hiring a professional is expensive, wait until you see the cost of hiring an amateur’. Engaging creatives who are invested in you and your day is priceless because you should have peace of mind and be 100% comfortable in the lead up knowing they are going to do a great job for you then do their absolute best to knock your socks off on the day.

WE WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU MORE...3,2,1 K GO!

I live in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales with my husband, two kids and Australian Shepherd. I have lived in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, travelled to over 30 countries and have competed internationally and at national level in Dragon Boating (a crazy kind of water sport for those who haven’t heard of it before). I like to think I'm a low-key hipppy, as much as I love coffee, cool bars, live bands and fancy restaurants, I love meditation, nature, natural therapies and being barefoot. Most of my report cards from school and the equivalent feedback as an adult while working in an office describe me as a social butterfly who distracts those around me…. I love a chat!! I also love stationary, coffee, Ink Gin and sparkling wine, playing sport, travel, weddings, and I’ve been known to belt out tunes in my car (car karaoke). I'm not fussed on actual karaoke, tuna, awkward silences, weather that's too hot or too cold and sand (which is uncomfortable to dislike as a parent, kids be loving sand!).

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WEDDINGS FOR?

I have been in the wedding industry for almost 10 years now. Before I was a Celebrant, I was an Event Coordinator at several of Gold Coast’s busiest wedding venues. I looked after corporate clients and couples getting married, but I always had a fondness for weddings, especially the ceremony – I have always been captivated by the romance of a wedding ceremony, so it was a natural progression for me to start my business as a Marriage Celebrant, which was over 4 years ago now and I have solemnised over 200 weddings and even managed to have time off to have a baby!

WHICH AREAS DO YOU SERVICE AND WHEN SHOULD COUPLES BOOK YOU?

I service Ballina/Byron Shire, Tweed Coast, Southern Gold Coast and Yamba region. It’s best to book as far in advance as possible, in case someone else nabs your date, but I often still get bookings 6 months or less out from the big day and that’s totally fine!

HIT US WITH THE HARD THRUTHS, HOW DO YOU RATE HELP ME HITCH - WEDDING COORDINATORS?
